Cataract surgery

Cataracts cause a number of symptoms such as progressive blurring, difficulty reading and driving, dazzle and glare in bright light and sometimes double vision.

We have many years experience of small incision cataract surgery, with excellent outcomes and complication rates well below the national average.  Our outcomes are continuously audited to ensure that our high standards are maintained.  Between us, we manage the majority of complex cataract surgery for patients in South East Hampshire.
We will discuss the full range of surgical techniques and intraocular lens implants with you to tailor the operation to your individual needs.

General and emergency ophthalmology

In addition to our specialist clinics, we regularly run clinics to cater for a wide variety of general eye problems.  Conditions such as blepharitis, dry eye, recurrent corneal problems and iritis are often best managed under specialist supervision.

We are able to see patients with emergency eye problems at short notice, offering a definitive solution without repeated visits to the general practitioner or casualty department.

Plastic surgery

We offer a comprehensive range of cosmetic and functional plastic surgery including botulinum toxin treatment, upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty, ptosis (droopy eyelid) surgery, eyebrow lifting, and tumour removal.  We also specialise in eye removal, prosthetic implants and rehabilitation.

Glaucoma

The term glaucoma covers a wide number of conditions, all of which cause damage to the optic nerve and can lead to loss of peripheral vision.
We are able to offer a full range of investigation and therapies to ensure that the condition receives the right treatment at the right time.  In the majority of cases, glaucoma is controlled with one or more eye drops, with a number of laser procedures and surgery available to treat more resistant cases.

Paediatric Ophthalmology

We recognise that our children's eye health plays an important role in their development.  We understand children's individual needs and are experienced in caring for children and their families in a wide range of paediatric eye problems, including squint and cataract

Adult squint and Neuro-Ophthalmology

We specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of adult squints, which often involve the use of adjustable sutures to refine the surgical outcome.  We are experienced in the investigation and management of neurological conditions which can cause problems such as double vision, or loss of visual field

Medical Retina

Retinal problems can cause varying degrees of visual loss. We offer a comprehensive range of investigations and treatments for retinal and macular diseases such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vein occlusions. We specialise in treatments including Lucentis, Eylea, Ozurdex and Avastin injections, and Argon laser.

Vitreo-retinal surgery

We offer the latest technologies in retinal surgery. Conditions like retinal detachments, macular holes and epiretinal membranes can now be treated with sutureless microincisional techniques as day case procedures.  With these newer techniques, recovery is more comfortable and rapid.  Cataract surgery can often be combined with these operations to eliminate the need for another procedure.
